Akki Roti, a staple of Karnataka cuisine, offers a delightful option for lunch or as a complement to gravies and stews. Compared to Appam, Akki Roti is slightly thicker and can be easily prepared at home, adding a touch of homemade goodness to any meal. How To Make Akki Roti:

Akki Roti

1. For this recipe first in a large bowl, combine the rice flour, grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chilli, curry leaves, coriander leaves, chopped onion, and salt.

2. Now slowly add hot water, little by little, while mixing the dry ingredients. Knead until you get a soft dough. The dough should not be sticky, but hold its shape when you press it.

3. Then divide the dough into equal balls. Dust each ball with some flour and roll it out into thin circles using a rolling pin. Alternatively, you can flatten them with your hands.

4. Now heat a griddle or tawa over medium heat. Drizzle some oil and carefully place a rolled roti on it. Flip the roti and cook for another minute or two until golden brown on both sides.

5. Enjoy Akki Roti hot with your favourite chutney, sambar, or any curry dish. Coconut chutney pairs beautifully with this recipe.
