Divya Agarwal has responded to trolls who have bashed her for allegedly dumping her boyfriend Varun Sood to get engaged to Apurva Padgaonkar in the span of a mere months. They are speculating that Padgaonkar must be rich for her to do this. Agarwal has asked her fans to show some sensitivity and avoid talking about her past, saying that she has been open about all her past relationships.

Soon after Agarwal officially announced her engagement with Padgaonkar, Sood tweeted a cryptic calm emoji, which led fans believing that it was his reaction to her engagement. Trolls also labelled her a ‘gold digger’.

‘Show some sensitivity’

In an interview with ETimes, Agarwal said that she would not want to comment on Sood’s reaction, but expects some sensitivity from fans regarding her engagement. “I have been in relationships and have always been open about it, but that should not mean that netizens can say anything about my personal life,” she added.

She further said that now that she is engaged, her fans should show some sensitivity and not talk about her past relationship. “I am in a very happy space and look forward to my life with Apurva.”

Trolls comment on her post

On Wednesday, Agarwal posted a picture from her birthday celebrations when Padgaonkar had proposed to her. She captioned the picture, “Will I ever stop smiling? Probably not. Life just got more sparkly and I found the right person to share this journey with. His #BaiCo. A forever promise. From this important day, I will never walk alone. Rab Rakha.”

A lot of her co-actors and friends congratulated her on the engagement, while some users flooded her post with mean comments calling her a gold digger. One user commented,

“I hope you will not get a loving, caring and protecting guy like Varun Sood, although we can only see what you show but he is a gentleman. I started following you because of him, now it's time to reduce one follower from your list.” Another one said, “Using another man? Desperate much!”

Agarwal is not alone. It is mostly women who are on the receiving end of such comments because how in the world can women be independent and earn for themselves (sense the sarcasm). Previously, Lalit Modi and Sushmita Sen were trolled for their relationship, where a lot of internet users called Sen a ‘gold digger’ and ‘greedy’ for dating Modi for his money. Somehow all her achievements and accomplishments went unnoticed because of these comments. However, Sen had a solid comeback when she captioned a post stating, “I dig deeper than gold and I've always (famously) preferred diamonds! And yes I still buy them myself!”
